About The Position

Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is designed to give students hands-on exposure to the core functions that drive successful construction projects—from preconstruction and estimating to project execution and BIM/VDC coordination. With a limited number of positions available, the program is primarily focused on attracting students who attend local colleges or who currently live in our surrounding communities . Internships for 2026 will begin June 1st and end August 7th . Internship Overview The Mark III Construction Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience across one or more of the following areas: Project Management BIM / VDC (Building Information Modeling) Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to active projects, and gain insight into how a large subcontracting construction company operates. Who we are : Mark III is a full-service construction company comprised of three complementary business units: M3 MEP, M3 Service, and M3 Components . We support projects from initial concept through long-term maintenance, with specialized expertise in healthcare, higher education, industrial, life science, and technology markets. Our integrated, big-picture approach allows us to self-perform electrical, HVAC, plumbing, process piping, prefabrication, and MEP design. By consolidating these services under one organization, clients benefit from reduced profit layers, minimized scope gaps, and simplified project schedules—working with a single, accountable partner rather than multiple consultants and subcontractors. Headquartered in Sacramento, California, Mark III operates throughout California and Nevada. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility serves as a centralized hub supporting five core trades: HVAC, mechanical piping, plumbing, electrical, and metal-stud framing. To support our continued growth, we will be relocating from our current combined 62,000 square feet of office and operational space to a new 340,000-square-foot headquarters at 2031 Optisolar Lane , with the move planned for completion by the end of Q2 2026 . Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in one of the following (or related fields): Construction Management Construction Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering Architectural Engineering BIM / VDC, Drafting, or Construction Technology
  • Strong interest in construction, engineering, and MEP systems
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Candidates must live in the Sacramento area or be attending a local college or university
  • Internship is in-person with potential jobsite exposure

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software is a plus (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Engineers with documentation, submittals, RFIs, and project coordination
  • Supporting BIM/VDC teams with modeling, drawing coordination, and clash detection
  • Assisting Estimating teams with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and scope reviews
  • Participating in jobsite visits and team meetings
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including project management, field operations, and preconstruction
  • Learning Mark III’s processes, systems, and construction best practices
