This internship offers a unique opportunity for a junior or senior-level Chemical Engineering student to gain hands-on experience in process engineering within a renewable diesel production facility. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers to support plant operations, troubleshoot process issues, and contribute to real-world projects focused on safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Through this experience, interns will develop technical skills, gain exposure to industry-standard engineering documentation and tools and build a strong foundation for a career in oil & gas or renewable fuels refining.

  • Assist in monitoring plant operations and analyzing process data.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and contribute to process optimization initiatives.
  • Participate in reviewing engineering documents such as PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
  • Help evaluate opportunities for improving safety, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Contribute to small-scale project development, including scope definition and cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production and Maintenance.
  • Participate in field walks and control room visits to gain exposure to plant operations and environmental compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver an end-of-summer presentation summarizing key project contributions, learnings, and overall internship experience to engineering and leadership teams.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering (junior or senior standing).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong interest in renewable fuels, refining, or oil & gas industries.
  • Basic understanding of process engineering principles (e.g., heat transfer, fluid dynamics).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with CADD is a plus.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
