Join the BAE Systems ES Engineering and Operations Capabilities(EOC), Materials Engineering Capability Group (MACG) for a challenging and rewarding summer internship in Manassas, Virginia! As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in supporting critical programs across BAE Systems. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a variety of areas, including: Failure Analysis: Investigating material failures to determine root causes. Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement: Contributing to solutions and preventative measures. Materials Testing: Utilizing state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and techniques. Design Influence: Applying your materials knowledge to improve hardware designs. We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong understanding of materials science and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside experienced materials engineering experts in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. This internship will provide you with: Practical experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. Development of valuable analytical, continuous process improvement and problem-solving skills. Exposure to materials analysis tools and techniques. A chance to make a significant contribution to a leading defense and aerospace company.

Requirements

  • Rising Junior, pursuing a degree in Materials Science Engineering
  • Experience in Materials/Failure analyses lab environment
  • Solid understanding of the basics of materials engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and work cooperatively with peers to define and resolve process and analsyes
  • Motivated self-starter and collaborative problem solver

Nice To Haves

  • Participant in prior STEM, Wit or similar technology Programs

Responsibilities
