About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible intern for a full-time 8-week summer internship. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of our talented professionals. As an Industrial Controls/Automation intern, you’ll be working with cutting-edge technologies and gaining hands-on experience in optimizing complex industrial systems. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in control systems, automation, and programming—skills that will help support our team's goals of improving efficiency and productivity. You’ll have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, assist in troubleshooting, and learn from experienced professionals in the field. This is a fantastic chance to develop your expertise in a growing and essential area of industrial technology while contributing to impactful projects. This position will be based onsite at Wonderful Citrus located in Delano, CA. This schedule for this internship is 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. Days of the week and work hours may change due to business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the value that industrial automation provides to the manufacturing process
  • Work closely with the Controls & Automation team on projects/tasks
  • Gain experience and insight into Controls Technician responsibilities
  • Project program structure, activities, and tracking tools
  • Network standards
  • PLC infrastructure and support field devices
  • Higher-level supervisory/visualization platform
  • Controls development projects
  • Identify, develop, and support continuous improvement opportunities
  • Update and develop departmental SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Assist with WOW projects and identifying quick wins
  • Provide general administrative support to the automation team

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/General Education Diploma and currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, Engineering, or related
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of beginner proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work autonomously
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
