Summer Intern | 40 hours per week | Facilities - Fort Madison
About The Position
Assists and learns to maintain facilities and grounds (lawns, tress, shrubs, parking lots, side walks, etc.) year round. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Polices hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or call the police. Ability to work in various weather conditions and during off hours.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with the following tools preferred: Cultivators, Lawnmowers, Gators, Fertilizer spreaders or distributors or levelers
- Experience with the following technology preferred: Electronic mail software-Outlook, Operating System software-Microsoft Windows
Responsibilities
- Operate powered equipment such as lawn mowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, tractors and other gas-powered equipment related to maintaining the lawns, trees and shrubs and landscaped areas.
- Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, along with hand-held electric power tools.
- Gather and remove litter.
- Mix and spray herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
