About The Position

Nourishing the creative potential of artists, partners, and colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives is an essential part of our work. We include interns as valued colleagues and are eager to provide them with opportunities that encourage their exploration and pursuit of careers in the arts. College students and recent graduates interested in arts management careers are encouraged to apply for a Summer Internship at Strathmore from June 1, 2026 through August 13, 2026. Applications will be accepted until COB on Friday, April 10, 2026. Strathmore has openings for Four (4) Interns (32 hours per week, Monday - Thursday) for 11 weeks. Interns earn a stipend equal to minimum wage hourly ($17.65/hr). Internships are available in various departments. Strathmore Internship Descriptions OPERATIONS/RENTALS Gain experience with the operational components of a multi-use performing arts organization. Develop an understanding of the setup needs for different events and assist with event setups as needed. Assist in the planning and setup for the weekly Live from the Lawn Series. Communicate with partners and clients via emails, phone calls, and on-site walkthroughs. Input data into the Event Booking system and understand the process of scheduling concurrent events. Prepare, organize, and maintain electronic event folders and records. Coordinate daily check-ins with Strathmore’s partners during summer camps and troubleshoot issues that may arise. Collaborate on updating internal forms and Standard Operating Procedures. Assist in the preparation of upcoming performances and partner seasons. CONTENT WRITING & MARKETING INTERN Staff and support Strathmore's marketing table at events, including Wednesday and Thursday evening Live from the Lawn performances Provide planning and logistical support for events and campus activations Collaborate with graphic designers and vendors to create marketing collateral Research artists and help develop grassroots marketing strategies and creative content ideas Support content development across digital and print platforms, including writing and editing Capture photo and video content at events for use across social media and marketing channels Assist with media coordination, including press attendance at events and interview scheduling Manage community calendar listings and listservs Provide general administrative support for marketing and communications projects as needed EDUCATION Help coordinate and cover the Arts and Social Justice Fellowship Showcase, UkeFest, East County Summer Camp, Good Hope Concerts, community festivals, and other summer events. Event advance/support may include: corresponding with instructors, camp parents, and patrons; organizing and copying materials; creating name tags; reminder emails; event set-up; artist and patron hospitality; greeting parents and students; tracking attendance; and evaluations. Research potential topics and instructors for education events. Support Momentus Elite calendar planning for 26-27 Education events. General administrative support may include pay requests, scheduling, contracts etc. With support, manage the Summer Rise high school student experience at Strathmore, which includes serving as lead liaison with several students, planning their orientations, mentoring, and project coordination. PROGRAMMING Help with event advance and coverage for Strathmore Summer Programming, which includes Outdoor Concerts & UkeFest, with opportunities to support Concert Hall Events. Event advance/support may include corresponding with artists, technicians, stagehands, operations event crew, patrons, organizing and copying materials, preparing production sheets, creating name tags, reminder emails, event set-up, artist hospitality shopping, tracking attendance, and show recaps/evaluations. Will play an integral part in advance planning for the annual UkeFest taking place in August (8th - 12th). Duties include but are not limited to preparing materials, creating and editing checklists, supporting the intake, sorting, and sales of instructor merchandise, and staffing the event. Artist research project to plan for future summer programming. Attend regular weekly meetings. Regular work activities will be both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work in summer weather and up to 2 evenings a week, with the potential for more during UkeFest. May include working alongside the summer intern cohort to manage internal projects. Job responsibilities are weighted as follows: 60% administrative prep work, 40% execution of events and event staffing.

Requirements

  • Ideal applicants are current juniors or seniors with at least two years of liberal arts, arts management, or arts-related study at the college level.
  • Those who completed undergraduate studies within the past year will be considered as well.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a sincere interest in the behind-the-scenes operation of an arts center.

Nice To Haves

  • Access to a car and previous experience in customer service or arts administration is beneficial.
