About The Position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a PhD level or graduate student with preferred majors in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Data Science. This opening requires an on-site presence. The work schedule is Monday – Friday (40 hours per week). This is a 10-week paid internship. The hourly rate for this position is as follows: $28.00- graduate level student $32.00 - PhD level student Intern Projects: The RADAR (Risk Assessment, Data Analysis, and Research) team at FRB-Philadelphia is exploring ways to leverage Gen AI to advance its data and analytics work. The intern will assist with this work by creating AI update reports, prompt testing, project coordination, creating training materials and documenting usage of internal tools.

Requirements

  • A master’s or PhD student pursuing a degree related to Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Data Science. Other fields related to the ones listed are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in Python, Stata, and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Report Building for AI Updates: Weekly reports on open-source AI updates that the team can incorporate.
  • Prompt Engineering Evaluation: Testing how prompt variations impact results at scale. The intern will conduct systematic A/B testing of prompt components to optimize accuracy.
  • Project Coordination Support: Handle administrative tasks including scheduling, note-taking, JIRA updates. Facilitate communication across teams to maintain project momentum.
  • Adoption & Training Facilitation: Create announcements, training materials, user onboarding resources, and department-specific guides to drive engagement.
  • Technical Documentation: Apply Python knowledge to understand and document internal tools and to improve accessibility of MartinAI documentation for broader team usage.
