About The Position

About our group: We are part of Seagate’s Equipment Development Engineering organization. We develop state of the art equipment to enable the development and testing of cutting-edge recording technologies. Our group has been designing equipment used in the development assembly and testing of hard disc drive components for over 25 years. We are technology leaders in nano motion, precision measurement solutions, and automation system design and control. About the role - you will: Seagate is looking for a Software Engineering Summer Intern within our Equipment Development Organization in our design center in Shakopee, MN. This position will support the design, development, and qualification of software used to test recording heads and media. You will work with other software engineers in our department to develop and maintain automated test systems, enhance data analysis tools, and contribute to software solutions that improve the performance and reliability of our testing processes. This role offers hands-on experience with real-world engineering challenges and the opportunity to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers. About you: Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers and technicians. Work hands-on with custom test equipment and tools such as signal generators and oscilloscopes. Have considerable judgment and motivation to complete actions. Expected to be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and be able to creatively solve problems as they arise. Enjoy multitasking and focusing on completing numerous projects.

Requirements

  • Proficient in C C++ or C# and/or proficient in Python.
  • Working towards BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering and enrolled in Fall 2026 classes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing software and contributing in a large code base in a team environment a plus.
  • Experience with lab equipment like oscilloscopes a plus.
