Summer Intern - Mechanical Engineer - Indianapolis, Indiana Allegion is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. You’ll work on solutions that will enable accessibility and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering
  • Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques
  • A desire to learn, grow and develop by working on projects that will impact Allegion’s business and customers
  • Resiliency and ability to adapt quickly
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical team members

Responsibilities

  • Define mechanical requirements and specifications to meet customer needs
  • Develop mechanical designs and support documentation
  • Prototype, test, and validate new mechanical and electro-mechanical products
  • Utilize engineering tools to ensure that risks are evaluated and mitigated early
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and project leads in a collaborative work environment
