Summer Intern – Firmware Engineer (Advanced Development), Hague Road Technical Center, Indianapolis, Indiana Allegion is looking for a passionate Summer Intern to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. You’ll work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive. As a firmware intern, you will gain valuable experience in defining and scoping requirements for firmware, designing and documenting architecture, coding, testing, and integration into a larger modular system. Additional opportunities include learning electronic locking systems, access control solutions, and participating in peer reviews on design and coding.   • Deepen your understanding of programming and scripting languages, such as C and Python
  • Gain experience in embedded software and firmware testing techniques
  • Gain experience with wireless technologies such as WiFi, BLE, UWB and Thread
  • Utilize techniques such as functional block diagrams, flow diagrams, state-diagrams, and others as required in product development
  • Work with a team to produce well-rounded solutions
  • Participate in daily and other regular team meetings, including project teams and firmware competency
  • Deepen your understanding in basic electronics and the use of electrical tools, such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, and digital logic analyzers
  • Obtain the experience to create a foundation for growth and future opportunities with Allegion
  • Pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, and Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative, e.g. school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, leadership on school or work projects, etc.
  • At least one class in C programming language - preference is mid-level proficiency in C
  • Basic electronics understanding
  • Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques
  • A desire to learn, grow and develop by working on projects that will impact Allegion’s business and customers
