About The Position

The Summer Engineering Intern – Ammunition Systems provides technical support to the engineering team while gaining practical experience in the design, testing, and production support of ammunition products and components. This role assists engineers with technical analysis, documentation, and testing activities supporting the ammunition portfolio. The internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to engineering practices within a regulated, high-reliability environment while developing foundational skills required for future roles within Engineering career path.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Understanding of fundamental engineering principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Interest in ammunition systems, manufacturing, or defense technologies
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational discipline
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred standing: Junior, Senior, Graduate student
  • Prior internship or engineering project experience preferred but not required.
  • CAD experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with technical tasks related to ammunition systems and components.
  • Support preparation of engineering drawings, technical documentation, and reports.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and data analysis under supervision.
  • Assist with engineering test setup, instrumentation, and data collection.
  • Support documentation of test results and engineering analysis.
  • Participate in product testing activities related to performance and safety validation.
  • Observe and support manufacturing operations to understand product build requirements.
  • Assist engineering staff in evaluating production issues and documenting improvements.
  • Support engineering change documentation and configuration updates.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and technical records.
  • Assist with organizing technical data packages and engineering files.
  • Support configuration tracking and documentation updates.
  • Participate in engineering meetings and technical discussions.
  • Gain exposure to safety, regulatory, and quality standards applicable to ammunition systems.
  • Work with engineers to develop practical engineering problem-solving skills.
