About The Position

A&F IT is a unit under the Executive Office for Administration & Finance (A&F) and is overseen by the A&F IT Secretariat Chief Information Officer (A&F SCIO). A&F IT is comprised of over 200 employees working on IT systems and applications for 15 various A&F agencies. A&F IT oversees and provides all the IT application support for these agencies to ensure their IT operations are running effectively and efficiently. One of the key agencies supported by A&F is the Department of Revenue. The Department of Revenue's core mission is to collect the revenues required to support the business of the Commonwealth, to make a difference in the lives of children by enforcing the financial responsibilities of parenthood, and to assist Massachusetts cities and towns in sound and efficient fiscal management. Bureau/Division Overview The Child Support Data Warehouse team supports reporting and analytics that help program staff, leadership, and partner agencies make informed decisions. The team manages data integration processes and develops reports and dashboards that provide insight into child support operations, financial activity, and program performance. The team works closely with program staff, analysts, and developers to ensure systems are reliable, accessible, and supported by accurate reporting and analytics. Position Summary The Data Warehouse QA Intern will assist the team in supporting reporting and integration activities, including learning how enterprise reporting and data warehouse tools are used in a production environment. With guidance from experienced staff, the intern will gain hands-on experience working with reporting tools such as Cognos, an introduction to data warehouse concepts, learning about data integrations processes using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), and helping validate and enhance reports

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in information technology, data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in working with data.
  • Basic familiarity with Excel or other data tools is helpful but not required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in learning about accessibility, reporting, data integration and data warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with validating and reviewing reports to help ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • With guidance from staff, help support development or updates using enterprise reporting tools such as Cognos.
  • Assist the team in reviewing data loads or processes related to the data warehouse environment.
  • Help document report logic, data sources, and testing or validation results.
  • Participate in team meetings and help track tasks and progress related to reporting and data activities.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting data or reporting issues for review by team members.
