Internship Program Overview: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer. Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC's many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program. Department Overview: The Compliance Department at NYCEDC ensures that projects successfully realize their value to the city of New York and enforces remedies when contractual obligations are not met. Compliance is responsible for the management, administration, and reporting of a diverse portfolio consisting of New York City Industrial Development Agency (NYCIDA) and Build NYC Resource Corporation (Build NYC) transactions, NYCEDC land sales, New York City Neighborhood Capital Corporation (NYCNCC) transactions, applied science projects, and certain loan agreements. In addition, Compliance plays a critical role in the preparation of annual public disclosure reports as mandated by State and local laws. The Intern will assist Compliance Project Managers who are responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, data accuracy, and enforcement of a diversified portfolio. The Intern will also engage in special projects assigned by Senior Vice President, Vice Presidents and Assistant Vice Presidents.

Requirements

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Business, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, and any related fields
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the tasks to manage and administer portfolios of economic development agreements, including:
  • Reading transaction documents to determine project requirements and covenants
  • Obtaining and analyzing required reporting documents in order to verify client compliance with various project requirements.
  • Maintaining and updating the Compliance database
  • Maintaining files and drafting correspondence/memos documenting client compliance, defaults, and corrective actions
  • Preparing and conducting site visits to inspect construction progress that is compliant with project agreements.
  • Contacting portfolio project contacts via phone and email
  • Other duties as assigned
