About The Position

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties, locations, and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this job. This job description is not a “contract” between the employee and the Authority. The job duties and essential functions may be changed at the discretion of the General Manager. The Summer Intern, Compensation will support the administration of compliance-related programs, including but not limited to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Workers’ Compensation. This role will assist with compliance processes, documentation, and clerical tasks while gaining exposure to regulatory requirements and employment compliance practices within an organizational setting. At DC Water, we provide more than 700,000 District of Columbia residents and 24.6 million annual visitors with essential water, wastewater, and stormwater services. DC Water also provides wholesale wastewater treatment services for 1.8 million people in Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland, and Fairfax and Loudoun counties in Virginia . Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Must have at least 30 credit hours complete
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proofreading skills
  • Ability to analyze information and identify inconsistencies
  • General office conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in a human resources department.
  • Preferred Majors: Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Design or Management, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate jo content for accuracy and alignment.
  • Ability to synthesize information and apply feedback consistently across documents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the review and updating of job descriptions as part of an organization-wide job description project.
  • Ensure alignment with the organizational structure and job architecture by confirming that job titles, levels, and reporting relationships are consistent with the organization’s job framework and career ladder.
  • Validate job description content for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Review essential functions, qualifications, physical requirements, certifications, and required licenses to ensure they are clearly stated, legally compliant, and reflective of actual job expectations.
  • Provide administrative and documentation support related to compensation and classification projects.
  • Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead
  • Performance of other work-related duties as needed
