Internship Program Overview: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer. Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program. Department Overview: NYCEDC’s Capital Program has developed a significant footprint throughout the New York City area in a wide scope of projects that include streetscape, resiliency, buildings, infrastructure, parks, and waterfront initiatives. A segment of our portfolio has included such projects as the High Line, Pier 35, Randall’s Island, Coney Island Steeplechase and Carousel, as well as the Rockaway Boardwalk.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban planning, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Capital staff with tasks as involved with any aspect of their day-to-day project management, including but not limited to:
  • Procurement of the architecture, engineering and construction teams
  • Conducting existing conditions assessments, programming, and feasibility studies
  • Supporting estimates and budgeting
  • Creating schematic designs through construction documentation
  • Reviewing regulatory submissions
  • Supporting project close-out
  • Attend site and other relevant business meetings
  • Work on special project assignments
