Internship Program Overview: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer. Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC’s many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program. Department Overview: Accounting is the largest of the departments that make up the Finance Division. The Accounting Department manages the collection, transfer, investment, and disbursement of funds for NYCEDC and its related entities. It records financial transactions in various systems and then compiles and presents financial statements to Management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders in New York City and New York State. Intern Responsibilities: Reporting to an Assistant Vice President, the intern will perform various tasks while on rotation between the different pillars of the accounting department. Projects and tasks will vary depending on the needs of the department.

Requirements

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Accounting
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Responsibilities

  • Assist with year-end audit requests
  • Assist with checking the clerical accuracy of the financial statements
  • Assist with year-end audit requests
  • Support team with invoice review, accrual review and ad-hoc reporting
  • Data entry for vouchering City reimbursable funds
  • Assist with cash application of tenant cash receipts
  • Data entry for check log
