About The Position

This summer internship opportunity seeks an undergraduate student majoring in electronics, materials engineering, or physics with experience in thin film material deposition and materials characterization. This work would support the scientists located at the Wright Patternson AirForce base in the Air Force Research labs, thus U.S. Citizenship is required. The candidate will perform 2D material sample fabrication (substrate prep, mechanical exfoliation, optical contrast characterization) and characterization including Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) for various ferroic 2D materials. AeroVironment (AV) is the premier autonomous systems company in the U.S., delivering breakthrough capabilities across air, land, sea, space, and cyber. From AI-powered drones and loitering munitions to integrated autonomy and space resilience, AV's technologies shape the future of warfare and protect those who serve. Founded by Dr. Paul MacCready, AV has over 50 years of experience pushing the boundaries of unmanned systems.
