About The Position

Steampunk is seeking a Growth & Solution Strategy Intern will support Steampunk’s mission to drive sustainable and strategic business growth by playing an integral role in operations that support business development, capture, and proposal efforts. This position offers hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of growth—from opportunity identification to proposal submission—while working closely with cross-functional teams, including account leads, technical SMEs, pricing, contracts, and delivery. Contributions The successful candidate will assist in organizing and coordinating key growth activities; contributing to white papers, RFIs, and proposals; researching new opportunities and potential partners that align with corporate strategy; and building relationships with new clients, partners, and vendors to accelerate growth in new accounts.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
  • Rising college Junior or Senior, current Senior
  • Local to the DMV area
  • Practical experience generating process documentation and writing reports
  • Excellent communicator with ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Microsoft SharePoint Online, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
  • Ability to learn new skills, tools, and technology
  • Resourceful in overcoming obstacles
  • Strong research and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Builds strong internal and external relationships by actively listening, asking relevant questions, and contributing to the development of opportunity strategies through thoughtful engagement.
  • Contributes to the development of white papers, RFIs, and proposal responses that support sales pipeline growth and position Steampunk for new business opportunities.
  • Conducts data-driven analyses of competitive positioning, market trends, contract vehicles, and potential partnerships to inform pipeline development and growth strategy.
  • Supports capture teams in developing and operationalizing win strategies, including coordinating client early engagement activities to position Steampunk for upcoming opportunities.
  • Supports proposal teams in coordinating and developing proposal-related materials, including written content and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborates across all levels of the organization to promote effective communication and alignment on growth initiatives, taking ownership of tasks and following through with a high degree of accountability.
