About The Position

Overview Humboldt Redwood Company is seeking Summer Forestry Technicians! This is a non-exempt position, the hourly rate for this position is $28.65 and includes benefits. These positions are based in Scotia, CA. We anticpate the season to be May 2026 through September 2026. The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Forest Managers, Lead Biologists the Summer Forestry Technician will work closely with the respective Registered Professional Foresters to conduct field work to implement Timber Harvesting Plans (THPs) and other Forest Management projects, survey and monitor threatened, endangered, and sensitive species.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED equivalent.
  • The employee must have ability to use directional compass and topographical maps, and/or GPS.
  • Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles including automobiles, trucks and large 4-wheel drive vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with concepts in forest ecology, and wildlife management techniques and security procedures a plus.
  • Knowledge of GPS, working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook a plus.
