About The Position

Overview Under the direction of the Child Nutrition Director, the Summer Food Coordinator will oversee our Summer Grab N' Go Food Programs during our summer season. This position involves assisting, planning, preparing, and coordinating meals and activities pertaining to our general operations for SFSP Grab N' Go meal sites. They will keep a clean and safe environment, stay current with state and government policies and regulations, gather needed papers for reporting meals. Ideal candidates are efficient and keep good relationships with all staff, vendors, members, volunteers and participants. Provides quality experience to everyone involved that focuses on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Other duties assigned by director. This position is seasonal and will begin between Mar. 24-April 14 with limited hours. Part time hours will continue through May 15 and increase to 25-40 hours/wk as school ends. In August, the hours slowly reduce until summer reporting is complete.

Requirements

  • Experience in menu planning and organizing details.
  • Must be knowledgeable/willing to take classes regarding food preparation, storage, Summer Food Service Program regulations etc.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting deadlines.
  • Use good judgment and discretion within the department and assignments.
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Follow all Salina Family YMCA and Kansas Department of Health and Environment safety requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications: CPR & First Aid, within 30 days of hire. (Training opportunities available)

Responsibilities

  • Edit and revise menus, productions sheets and activities for Grab N Go Sites.
  • Order for Grab N Go bags and make appropriate substitutions. Guidance from director.
  • Supervise the food safety, delivery, assembly line, packing, and delivery of Grab N go foods.
  • Maintain acceptable food safety standards based on the State of Kansas, OSHA, USDA, and SFSP Regulations.
  • Create and follow all assigned schedules and operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining clean and safe facilities, and consistently demonstrating professional conduct.
  • Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as requested.
