Summer Excursions Instructor
About The Position
Fortune Excursions Instructors will be responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for scholars ranging from elementary to middle school ages during after-school hours. This role requires someone with a passion for education and child development, coupled with strong organizational skills to plan and execute educational and enrichment activities. The instructor must also have excellent communication skills to interact effectively with scholars, parents, and school staff, and must be able to manage classroom behavior effectively.
Requirements
- Internal staff applicants need to be in good standing with no attendance issues.
- YOU MUST BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO WORKING THE ENTIRE SUMMER PROGRAM.
Responsibilities
- Arriving on time and staying until you are scheduled to leave (11:30-5:30)
- Developing and implementing enrichment activities: Create and manage a variety of activities that are both fun and educational, catering to a diverse group of scholars.
- Ensuring scholar safety and wellbeing: Maintain a safe environment, promptly addressing any health or safety concerns, and fostering an inclusive atmosphere that supports scholars’ emotional and social growth.
- Communication: Maintain regular, open communication with parents and school staff regarding scholar progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Behavior Management: Implement strategies to manage group dynamics and resolve conflicts among scholars, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
- Collaborating with the Site Lead for attendance, parent concerns, and scholar conduct.
- Coordinate and Collaborate with Fortune Excursions Site Lead to ensure a smooth implementation of the Summer School + Fortune Excursions Program.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift objects (25 pounds or less) and assist in setting up activities or materials.
