About The Position

Under the direction of a Professional Engineer (P.E.), performs engineering work for water, sanitary sewer, street, stormwater, and other Public Works projects; ensures technical. competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria; works with maintenance crews to problem solve, review and inspects permitted work, and works towards building public trust and confidence in its Public Works Department.

Requirements

• General street, storm, sewer, sanitary and waterline design.
• General construction inspection.
• Effective communication principles and practices to include public relations.
• Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
• English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Microsoft office and entry-level AutoCAD skills.
• Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Works on projects for the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
• Assists Public Works with design and construction projects and creates cost estimates for projects.
• Assists other with various Public Works projects as required.
• Ensures that job duties are completed in strict adherence to established safe work practices.
• All other duties as assigned.
