About The Position

This position will work with leadership from the Lakeside Association and Because I said I Would, the global accountability movement founded by Alex Sheen — to launch Teen Resiliency camps this summer. Through an engaging, trauma-informed and supportive environment, youth and teens will develop practical tools and healthy mental habits that strengthen emotional resilience and personal integrity. Day camp counselors will be responsible for a small group of campers throughout the duration of the camp. Mandatory training will be provided virtually before the start of camp. One day of on-site training will be provided. Camp runs from 8:00am – 3:00pm, June 10-12, 2026. Lunch will be provided on camp days.

Requirements

  • Experience leading a group of teenage youth independently

Nice To Haves

  • Active licensure or certification in a field related to education or mental health (e.g., teaching, counseling, social work, psychology)
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Abuse Prevention Training (can provide if needed)
  • Experience in education, mental health, or nonprofit program delivery
  • Overnight supervisory experience of youth
  • Experience in trauma-informed care

Responsibilities

  • Arrive by 7:00am to ensure common spaces are ready and to help set-up for any activities.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for all campers.
  • Guide campers to ensure timely attendance at all activities.
  • Support campers to encourage participation.
  • Handle all incidents immediately and appropriately.
  • General supervision of all campers throughout the duration of the camp.
