Summer Day Camp Counselor
About The Position
This position will work with leadership from the Lakeside Association and Because I said I Would, the global accountability movement founded by Alex Sheen — to launch Teen Resiliency camps this summer. Through an engaging, trauma-informed and supportive environment, youth and teens will develop practical tools and healthy mental habits that strengthen emotional resilience and personal integrity. Day camp counselors will be responsible for a small group of campers throughout the duration of the camp. Mandatory training will be provided virtually before the start of camp. One day of on-site training will be provided. Camp runs from 8:00am – 3:00pm, June 10-12, 2026. Lunch will be provided on camp days.
Requirements
- Experience leading a group of teenage youth independently
Nice To Haves
- Active licensure or certification in a field related to education or mental health (e.g., teaching, counseling, social work, psychology)
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Abuse Prevention Training (can provide if needed)
- Experience in education, mental health, or nonprofit program delivery
- Overnight supervisory experience of youth
- Experience in trauma-informed care
Responsibilities
- Arrive by 7:00am to ensure common spaces are ready and to help set-up for any activities.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for all campers.
- Guide campers to ensure timely attendance at all activities.
- Support campers to encourage participation.
- Handle all incidents immediately and appropriately.
- General supervision of all campers throughout the duration of the camp.
