About The Position
The Sumner County YMCA is Now Hiring for Summer Day Camp Counselor s Position Type: Seasonal (Monday - Friday schedule) Pay Range starts at $14 per hour (or more depending on experience) Hey there, adventure-seeker! If you're passionate about working with kids and love the great outdoors, we’ve got the perfect gig for you. As a Summer Day Camp Counselor , you’ll lead campers through fun, engaging activities while ensuring their safety, happiness, and growth. Think swimming, games, and making memories—yep, it’s as awesome as it sounds! NOTE: This is a seasonal position running from mid-May through early August. The role requires consistent availability Monday–Friday. Shifts can be scheduled within the window of 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., but you will work no more than 8.5 hours per day, up to five days per week. Applicants must be able to commit to this schedule and availability for the full season.
Requirements
- Minimum Age: 18
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a love for working with kids.
- Ability to spend up to nine hours outdoors, leading activities and ensuring campers’ well-being.
- Strong communication skills and a knack for keeping things fun and safe.
- New Hire Orientation (before your first shift)
- CPR Pro, First Aid, and AED (within 30 days of hire)
- Consistent availability Monday–Friday
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience or coursework in childcare or recreation is a plus.
