About The Position

Get ready to make a lasting impact on young lives! As the Summer Day Camp Coordinator, you'll play a key role in helping kids (ages 5-12) grow, have fun, and learn in a safe, energetic, and nurturing environment. You'll work closely with the Youth Development Supervisor to bring exciting, faith-filled programming to life, blending sports, recreation, music, art, and more. The Summer Day Camp Coordinator will be at the heart of the action, making sure each activity runs smoothly, and every moment counts.   Kroc Summer Camp is an entirely outdoor camp experience. The Coordinator will be expected to work a significant amount of time outdoors mentoring camp counselors, assisting with disciplinary issues and providing additional support to counselors during activities.   The Kroc Center Summer Day Camp Coordinator's pay rate is $18.36/ hour. Camp runs June 15 - August 21 with training week being held June 8-12.   In keeping with the mission of the Wisconsin & Upper MI Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center located in Green Bay, WI provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage, and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.   The Summer Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Youth Development Supervisor with youth programming within the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (RJKCCC).  The Coordinator will primarily focus on the 5-12 year old age range with oversight of youth programming during Summer Camp. They will utilize this programming to share the gospel, introduce young people to Jesus Christ, offer them a developmentally friendly environment, and lead them into the fellowship of the Kroc Center through a wide variety of opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with youth is required.
  • Program planning and execution experience is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong management skills including experience in dealing with a diverse population.
  • Strong knowledge of the youth development cycle and the ability to program age-appropriate activities.
  • Skill in dealing with difficult children / parents / guardians.
  • Skill in utilizing good judgment.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to successfully complete Safe from Harm and CPI training.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • First aid, CPR, AED certifications and Safe from Harm and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training will be obtained during the orientation period.
  • Employee must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate the Summer Day Camp program for youth 5-12 years old to include, but not limited to, programming in sports, recreation, music, art, and social categories.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate day and summer camps by developing activity schedules, managing personnel and volunteers as well as recruiting participants.
  • Implement the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets for Youth and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) into all youth programming to ensure a positive and developmentally friendly environment within all areas of the Kroc Center.
  • Interact with youth, parents, and guardians to bridge families into Kroc Center programming.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate special events and programs that feature Kroc youth programs.
  • Ensure national, territorial, and Kroc Center standards are maintained.
  • Administrative tasks as assigned.
