About The Position

This position is for summer help during June and July, working on the Maintenance and/or Paint crew for Ponca City Public Schools. The primary job goal is to keep the district's school buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. The role involves performing general labor both inside and outside the physical plant.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with Good Driving Record
  • Ability to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear frequently
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms frequently
  • Ability to squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward frequently
  • Ability to continuously use hand strength to grasp tools and climb on to ladders
  • Ability to frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person
  • Ability to operate mowing equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, forklifts, trucks and other mechanical or hand tool equipment
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 lbs.
  • Ability to sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and air compressors
  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints
  • Adequate visual requirements including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Adequate hearing/speaking requirements to exchange information

Responsibilities

  • Replaces and performs all functions of Custodian when needed.
  • Performs various maintenance tasks such as equipment repair, minor housekeeping, repairs, painting etc.
  • Performs general labor inside and outside the physical plant including district wide grounds keeping, handling materials and supplies, moving equipment, moving furniture, operating power-driven equipment, truck driving, snow plowing roofing mowing, and etc.
  • Replaces light bulbs, moves ceiling tiles, repairs bleachers, soccer goals, and other assigned repairs in all athletic areas of district.
  • Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local and Board of Education guidelines.
  • Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
