The YMCA at Middleburg Community Charter School is currently seeking an experience professional to join our team as the Summer Camp Program Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun, and positive environment daily! The Summer Camp Program Director oversees the overall operation of the camp program site(s), including curriculum development and delivery, and health and safety of the children. Some of the exciting things you will do as the Summer Camp Program Director: Lead the daily operations of the summer camp program while creating a vibrant, safe, and unforgettable experience where every camper feels excited to learn, explore, and belong. Build positive, trusting relationships with campers and families by providing responsive communication, personalized support, and a welcoming camp environment. Inspire imagination and adventure by fostering creativity, inclusivity, teamwork, and self-expression among both campers and staff. Collaborate with camp staff to design and implement dynamic, age-appropriate curriculum that delivers meaningful experiences while honoring the interests, strengths, and needs of each child. Recruit, interview, hire, and mentor passionate team members, providing engaging onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development to build a strong, supportive, and high-performing camp team.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and six months of programmatic experience;
  • OR bachelor's degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and one year of programmatic experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working primarily with preschool/school age children in a licensed child care center.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Must have a solid grasp of budget development, income production, and expense control.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents and committed to working within a diverse population.
