About The Position

Summer Camp Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising small and large group experiences for 15~30 students along with 2~3 other Camp Counselors in aviation/aerospace/STEAM focused programs. They will provide a high level of fun, positive communication, upbeat attitude, safe space, and learning opportunities for children ages 8 ~ 12. Summer Camp Instructors will prepare and clean-up materials and assist in signing-in and releasing campers each day. This position will have the opportunity to work at one or both Museum locations for the duration of the Wings summer camp program. Summer Camp Instructors are members of the Education department who work closely with Summer Camp Counselors, the Education Program Manager, Education Program Coordinator, and report directly to the Director of Education.

Requirements

  • Must be twenty-one (21+) years of age or older
  • Must work the entirety of the 2026 Summer Camp season May 23 rd through August 14th, 2026.
  • Clean background screening and CDE-VECHS criminal history check (fingerprinting)
  • Reliable transportation and on-time arrival for all work shifts
  • Self-motivated, energetic, confident public speaker
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communicator?
  • Strong organizational, communication, and planning skills
  • Ability to handle a number of projects and prioritize work
  • Comfortable working independently and in team settings
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience
  • Commitment to program diversity and inclusion
  • Wear approved uniforms and camp t-shirts
  • Able to lift, pull, or carry thirty (30+) lbs.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or attend Wings-sponsored CPR training prior to the first day of camp

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an instructor or teacher in formal or informal settings (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a positive and fun attitude through courtesy, service, cooperation, sensitivity, and professionalism to all campers, families, and staff
  • Teach aviation/aerospace STEAM camp activities and lessons with the assistance of Summer Camp Counselors
  • Understand camper/participant needs including any health, behavioral, and/or disability specific medical conditions
  • Greet families/guardians at the door and assist with daily sign-in/out of campers
  • Help create engaging STEAM lessons which match weekly themes
  • Interact, engage, and supervise campers in camp activities
  • Supervise children ranging 8 ~ 12 years old during all camp activities, workshops, and events including daily lunch and snack time
  • Ensure accountability for each camper
  • Help with activity set-up and clean-up
  • Maintain a safe, equitable, compassionate, and fun camp environment
  • Immediately report all issues to Education Program Manager or the Director of Education
  • Maintain a professional demeanor including interactions with parent/guardians, counselors, students, and other staff
  • Attend all mandatory staff trainings
