At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), our mission is rooted in empowering individuals and strengthening communities. As a Direct Support Professional / DSP , you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals. Part-time Schedule (with varying hours): Monday-Friday; pm-8:30am - 5:30pm
Requirements
- Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
- Education: A High school diploma or GED is required
- Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
- Skills: Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
- Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation and current auto insurance
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting individuals at learning and increasing skills in all areas of independence including, but not limited to: Self-help skills, independent living skills, accessing community resources, and pursuit of leisure activities. (If an individualized plan exists, this document serves as a guide for these supports).
- Participate in all program activities.
- Ensure that the safety, health, hygiene, and nutritional needs of the individuals we support are met.
- Lift and transfer individuals, we support as needed.
