Camp HOPE – SafeNest, serves youth who have experienced trauma. Camp Counselors should be emotionally prepared to support campers who may share personal experiences, display trauma-related behaviors, or require additional emotional support. Training and ongoing support will be provided. A Camp Counselor provides direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to a cabin group of campers, ensuring a safe and supportive camp experience that reflects these character values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Camp Counselors build positive, nurturing relationships with campers while supporting a cooperative and inclusive cabin environment. Under the direction of the Unit Director, Camp Counselors assist with the implementation of program activities and daily cabin routines. A Camp Counselor must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Counselors must be able to remain calm, attentive, and supportive in an active, fast-paced environment and work effectively with a diverse group of youth and staff.
