Summer Camp Counselor (seasonal, as-needed)

About the role We are looking for a seasonal, as-needed, Summer Camp Counselor to join our team! This position is open from May through August 2026 in Cincinnati, OH. Responsible for leading, supporting, engaging, and motivating youth in activity programs. Will assist in developing youth programs and leading and mentoring program participants.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Child/Infant CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of hire.
- Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
- Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
- Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
- Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.
Responsibilities
- Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
- Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
- Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
- Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
- Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
- Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
- Supervise children ranging from ages [insert age range if applicable].
- Clean up after the children every shift.
- Play games and other activities with the children.
- Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
- Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
- Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.
