About The Position

The YMCA is looking for dedicated, caring, and creative individuals to join our summer camp team! In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to foster a fun, safe, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and explore their potential.

The YMCA is seeking Summer Camp Counselors who are enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of young children while leading fun and enriching activities for school-age children participating in summer day camp at Camp.

Requirements

• Minimum of 16 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Reliable transportation to attend work.
• Good communication, accounting, and organizational skills.
• Warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect quickly with children and their parents.
• If working in the afternoon, must be willing to get in the water with campers for swimming.
• Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned groups of children and engage in positive staff-child interaction.
• Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment of each child.
• Provide day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for campers.
