About The Position

Take your summer to the next level and join our camp staff at Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF). We are hiring a variety of roles from camp counselors, specialty coordinators, healthcare aids to cooks! Each role is critical to ensuring a fun, active and safe summer for our campers. Camp Wai Lani Dates of Employment: June 1- July 26, 2026 Dates for specialty positions will be May 27 - July 26, 2026 Weekly Pay Range Starting At: $600 per week, commensurate with experience. Camp staff is selected based on their experience, enthusiasm, and desire to work with children in a camp setting. Our counselors strive to be role models with a focus on the needs of campers both in individual and group settings. Camp staff model the Girl Scout Promise and Law and receive extensive training in a variety of topics (including youth development and risk management) so campers will be successful throughout their summer camp adventure. We screen each applicant through in-depth interviews, multiple reference and background checks, as well as drug screening. Camp staff go through more than ten days of training, including CPR and First Aid, safety and risk management, emergency response, activity leadership and outdoor skills, how to support campers' mental health (including homesickness and bullying), and much more. Staff who supervise specialized activities (such as swimming and archery) have additional training and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Ability to interact and relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in assigned program areas.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout movement; willing to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA (paid membership included with job offer).
  • Physical requirements of all camp staff positions include prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to utilize camp equipment; requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; willing to live in a camp setting and work extended hours; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, horses etc.
