About The Position

Come work as an Summer Camp Counselor Float for Animal Humane Society, where caring for animals isn’t just a job – it’s our passion! 🐾 We're looking for a team of fun and engaging individuals to help facilitate our Summer Camp programming from June-August. Keep reading to learn more: Job Summary: The Summer Camp Counselor Float is responsible for supporting the delivery of activities, supervision, and organization of summer day camp for youth in grades 3-10. This role also supports consistency in organizational services by being adaptable and working at the location assigned to them the morning of their shift.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong administrative and process management skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computers, specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours.
  • Must be fully available from June 1-August 21

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth in grades 3-10 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enthusiastically greet campers and guardians as they arrive and depart from camp and record attendance.
  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
  • Participate in the teaching and progression of lessons and activities, including adapting to differing camper ages, abilities and group dynamics.
  • Engage with campers during activities and games.
  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of camp activities and events.
  • Address and resolve any camper issues or conflicts in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Escalate camper issues or conflicts as appropriate.
  • Provide guardians appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience
  • Provide support in summer camp programming, including post camp wrap-up.
  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with customers, other employees, and volunteers.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all.
  • Clock in and out of shifts using ADP.
  • Monitor AHS email and other messaging software.
  • Other duties as assigned.
