About The Position

The Summer Camp Counselor position at FVCA involves temporary relocation to St. Charles, IL, where staff will supervise and engage with campers aged 6-18 in a Christian camp setting. Requirements

• Must exemplify a relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Pass a state and federal background check.
• Regular church attendance with a pastor/church leader reference.
• Enjoy being outdoors and living in missionary-like conditions.
• Experience working with children from low-income communities.
• Ability to adapt and relate cross-culturally.
• Must be coachable and open to guidance.
• High energy and outgoing personality.
• Meet physical demands of the job, including strength and stamina for activities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in canoeing/kayaking (1 year preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise, guide, love, and care for a group of 7-10 campers during the summer season.
• Engage with campers during meal times, cabin devotionals, and planned activities.
• Create and maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the camp.
• Empower and support all campers consistently.
• Follow FVCA guidelines and safety procedures at all times.
• Help campers grow in their awareness of God.
• Assist with program evaluation at the end of each session.
• Participate in recreational and educational activities such as swimming and hiking.
• Escort and oversee children to cabins or activities as necessary.
• Educate campers through games and explorations.
• Resolve conflicts and address behavioral issues among campers.
• Ensure cleanliness of camping sites and recreational areas.
• Perform basic first aid and complete incident reports as needed.
• Attend daily staff meetings and devotionals.
• Assist with camper routines and check-in/check-out processes.
