About The Position

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Bus Driver to support summer camp operations by transporting campers, staff, and approved passengers to and from camp properties, program areas, field trips, and other designated locations. This position is responsible for providing safe, timely, and professional transportation services in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and GSWCF policies. Based on organizational needs, this role may also have opportunities for year-round driving assignments. As part of the camp team, the Bus Driver helps support high-quality member experiences that build courage, confidence, and character in girls.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements required
  • Acceptable driving record and ability to meet GSWCF driver eligibility requirements
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings and employment checks
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain flexible and calm in a dynamic camp environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle
  • Ability to assist passengers during loading and unloading as needed
  • Ability to conduct vehicle inspections, including climbing steps and checking equipment
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and camp environments during the summer season

Nice To Haves

  • Previous bus driving or group transportation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a bus or other approved vehicle to transport campers, staff, and authorized passengers
  • Transport participants to and from camp programs, field trips, and designated off-site locations
  • Perform and document required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Monitor the condition, cleanliness, and basic readiness of assigned vehicles
  • Report accidents, incidents, delays, maintenance concerns, and safety issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate mileage, inspection, and transportation records
  • Follow all federal, state, and local traffic laws, transportation regulations, and GSWCF Procedures
  • Support safe loading and unloading of passengers
  • Help ensure appropriate behavior and adherence to safety expectations during transport
  • Communicate effectively with camp leadership regarding schedules, route changes, and transportation needs
  • Respond appropriately and calmly in emergency situations
  • Represent GSWCF in a professional manner with campers, families, staff, and community partners
  • Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned
