This is a summer internship opportunity to go from June through August 2026 . This position requires 80% travel throughout the Greater Boston area. We are looking for six (6) seasonal hires to join our Field Services team in Boston, MA this summer! The Summer Calibration Services Technician is responsible for performing in-field installation, calibration, and maintenance of continuous monitoring units at client sites. The Summer Calibration Services Technician is expected to follow all health and safety protocols and document all field activity as outlined in the company standard operating procedures. This position is required to commute to/from client sites and is expected to demonstrate safe defensive driving behavior and maintain a satisfactory driving record. This position is also required to obtain and maintain CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) certification with the State of Massachusetts. This position is expected to provide great customer service in the field for SmartSense clients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in a science or technology field (Required)
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent educational hours in a science or technology field of study (Required)
  • Valid driver's license (Required)
  • Proficient English language skills (Required)
  • Excellent customer service skills (Required)
  • Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
  • Basic computer skills (Required)
  • Travels up to 80% of the time locally (within 3 hours) (Required)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 50 lbs on a constant basis (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or technology field of study (Preferred)
  • Experience in an environmental or industrial hygiene laboratory (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Field calibration of real-time indoor air quality sensors.
  • Reading, understanding, and traveling with system installation, calibration, and troubleshooting equipment and manuals.
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting systems onsite. This includes use of small hand tools to perform sensor repairs and documenting field activities properly before leaving the site and uploading into central system from phone or computer daily.
  • Communicating unresolved issues encountered in a timely manner.
