About The Position

This is a seasonal position that is designed to provide routine support in the maintenance/repair of automotive and related equipment for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Work is initially reviewed closely, and close supervision is received when new work processes or procedures are introduced, however, employees are expected to perform with limited guidance after the work process is learned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be currently enrolled in a second-year post-secondary accredited technical school for automotive technology, or related field.
• OR Completion of a high school vocational program in automotive technology AND currently enrolled in a first-year post-secondary accredited technical school for automotive technology, or related field.
• OR Recently graduated from a post-secondary accredited technical school for automotive technology or related field.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assists mechanics in the repair of automotive equipment/vehicles and their components.
• Assists mechanics with minor diagnostic and repair work on engines, hydraulic systems, and other systems.
• Analyzes, troubleshoots, and tests equipment.
• Maintains supply, service, and repair records.
• Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensures mechanics are supplied with proper tools, equipment, and work materials.
• Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
