About The Position

Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills. Our mission is to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children living in metro Denver communities. Our summer program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and recreation/enrichment components. These programs are educational, engaging, and effective. The Summer Assistant Site Director will assist the Site Director with managing and leading site-based extended learning, enrichment, and family literacy programs at public elementary schools. This position is responsible for assisting the Site Director with coordinating, planning, and implementing activities for the K-5 summer program. Serving as the second point of contact, this person assists with managing the day-to-day operations, helps site staff personnel when needed, and assists the Site Director with supporting staff in the daily implementation of programs. The Summer Assistant Site Director reports to the Site Director and Multi Site Manager. The Scholars Unlimited summer program will start June 9, 2026 and end July 17, 2026. The program will be held in our partner schools in Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Sheridan, and Westminster. The Assistant Site Director will work Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM and will attend mandatory training sessions the week of June 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age per Colorado child care licensing rules and regulations
  • Must possess current CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certificates or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire date
  • Must possess all child care licensing certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Must attend and complete all paid training requirements
  • Must be able to work the program scheduled hours
  • Must complete and pass criminal history background checks prior to the start of employment
  • One or more years experience in managing after school programs or summer programs, which includes supervising staff, and experience working in education, child development, and/or recreation management.
  • Proven experience as an assistant supervisor or in a similar managerial role
  • Knowledge, experience, and expertise in youth development, behavior management, and enrichment programs.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children
  • Consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of Scholars Unlimited’s vision, mission, and values
  • Program coordination skills, including the ability to plan, specify tasks, supervise staff, problem solve, and implement activities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, problem solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain records.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Strong computer skills (Office and data entry skills)
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is desired
  • Experience using ProCare, Amira, and Lexia is preferred
  • BA or BS Degree in education or other related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the overall coordination and operation of the summer program.
  • Assist with managing Site Staff and ensure they are on task managing their classrooms
  • Assist with communicating with facilities, food services, front office staff, and enrichment providers as necessary
  • Assist in evaluating and documenting student growth and development, relaying information to parents/guardians through both oral and written communication when needed
  • Assist with maintaining accurate student files (medical records, permission slips, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment, and notify supervisor of any hazards/security issues as soon as possible.
  • Assist with responding to emergency situations as required, and maintain accurate reporting
  • Provide first aid, and administer medication as needed
  • Assist in being a first point of contact, and act as a liaison between students, parents/guardians and site staff to address any issues or concerns that arise
  • Act as a substitute for any of the site staff positions when necessary, including the Site Director position when necessary
  • Assist in maintaining stock of necessary supplies
  • Adhere to all Colorado child care licensing rules and regulations
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, and implementing the best practices of Scholars Unlimited as stated in the Scholars Unlimited Employee Handbook
  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of Scholars Unlimited
  • Assist with Supervising Site Staff (Academic Specialist, Aide, Literacy Teacher, and Youth Development Instructor) in the performance of their duties, including but not limited to, delegating, counseling, coaching, performance feedback and training.
  • Assist in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
