About The Position

The Link Center serves as the central access point at the University of Wisconsin-Superior for career services, academic service-learning, internships, undergraduate research, voter engagement, strategic partnerships, employer relations, and regional outreach. This position will work collaboratively with the Camp and Clinics manager and other Link Center Staff to ensure camper safety.

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at UW-Superior.
  • Must be able to commit to working up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Must have experience working with students in grades K-12.
  • Enthusiasm to positively represent UW-Superior and The Link Center
  • Promote professionalism, safety, and creating meaningful and appropriate relationships with campers
  • Exhibits self-motivation, responsibility, dependability, integrity, confidentiality, and time management.
  • Must be able to work within a team setting to provide safe and high-quality programs for youth.
  • Provides appropriate verbal, nonverbal, and written communication.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, in a timely manner, and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve situations with campers as they arise.
  • Values differences among individuals and ideas.
  • Follow guidelines, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Student Employee Handbook.
  • Monitor and record hours accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience planning and implementing programs for students in grades K-12.
  • Majoring in the education field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, supervision and execution of quality camp programs
  • Assist in creating and facilitating weekly camp lesson plans
  • Manage the welfare of campers by understanding safety procedures and promoting a positive environment
  • Use of personal judgement in incidents that occur throughout the day
  • Supervising camper safety by administering first aid and contact emergency services as necessary
  • Document and maintain group and individual attendance, and provide supervision to campers throughout the day
  • Enforce proper disciplinary actions regarding camper behavior
  • Ensure proper care of camper information, emergency contacts, and incident reporting
  • Demonstrate punctuality, follow payroll procedures, and proper employee attire expectations
  • Other duties as assigned
