Summer Arts Staff – Program Specialist

Check out our video to learn more about Club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmafJZezhMk Dates: May 18th – August 1st PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Summer Arts Youth Development Professional plans, implements, and supervises engaging arts-based programming, including painting, drawing, music, arts & crafts, and creative expression activities. This position encourages imagination, creativity, and self-expression while supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Youth Development Professionals will work within a Boys & Girls Club serving up to 100 youth (ages 6–18) daily and will lead groups of 5–20 members at a time through fun, inclusive, and hands-on art experiences.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED & currently working to complete a two or four-year degree
- Experience working with children
- Passion for art, creativity, and self-expression
- Ability to plan and lead engaging art activities
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- Knowledge of youth development
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Candidates must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check & Drug Test
- Boys & Girls Club Basics & Safety 101 to be completed the first week of hire
- Complete the Milestone 1 trainings
- Complete Milestone 2 trainings
- Attend Monthly trainings for positive youth development

- Developing partnerships with local organizations and businesses to enhance resources and opportunities for club members.
- Empowering young people to become active and responsible citizens through advocacy and leadership development programs.
- Implementing behavior management strategies to create a safe and respectful club environment.
- Planning and organizing various programs and activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of club members.
- Providing emotional support and guidance to youth facing personal challenges and crises.
- Assisting club members with homework, tutoring, and educational enrichment activities to support their academic success.
