About The Position

ORIX USA Group is seeking to hire a Summer Analyst for its New York office and the role will report to the Head of Sustainability Group. The Sustainability Group is responsible for the continuous design, update, and implementation of a broad corporate sustainability program and develop sustainable investment strategies for ORIX USA’s various lines of business operating within private credit and real estate markets. As part of a broader investment research project, this role will primarily consist of assigning a “Sustainability Profile” to 600+ closed and inactive deals. This project is a key building block in ORIX USA Group’s sustainable product design effort as it will enable the identification and leveraging of existing investment teams’ ability to organically generate sustainable deals. The intern will be introduced to: (i) the asset management and investing segments of the financial services industry; (ii) ORIX USA Group’s investment strategies; and (iii) responsible investing. Following a training period, the intern will be performing a brief qualitative sustainability research and assessments of deals contemplated or closed by ORIX USA Group, and assign pre-defined profiles describing their sustainability potential. Additional ad-hoc projects may be assigned to diversify the activity of the intern or to support higher priorities of the Sustainability Group. At the end of the cycle, the intern will prepare a statistical presentation of the research undertaken including a summary of highlighted case studies. This position has frequent contact with various levels of employees across several lines of business, and predominantly with the Sustainability Group. Pairing with an experienced professional for guidance will also be made available.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate students in finance, economics, statistics or related subject
  • General understanding of financial services industry, asset management business, private credit, private equity, and real estate investments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically intermediate-to-advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions) and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking, as well as organizational and decision making skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated ability to meet expectations as part of a high-performance team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to operate in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude with excellent written and verbal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal sustainability or responsible investment training program is a plus
