Location: Spokane, Washington (In-person) Type: Non-Exempt (Temporary) Compensation: $20.00 per hour Work Schedule: Part-time, Monday – Friday ( Position is temporary, expected to be scheduled approximately 30 hours per week and not expected to exceed 8 weeks. Start and end date will be approximately between May – September 2026.) As a Summer Academy Intern, you'll… The Summer Academy Intern will work within the Workforce Development team to support Community Employment Services during Summary Academy. This position will focus on creating and facilitating interactive workshops that help students build job readiness skills, explore career pathways, and prepare for workplace success. The intern will also provide guidance and support as students participate in their own paid internships, ensuring they have the tools and resources to succeed. This role offers experience in curriculum development, teaching in a workshop setting, and applying inclusive employment strategies. Interns will gain professional development, mentorship, and curriculum development opportunities while contributing to an engaging and supportive learning environment. This is a temporary position and is not expected to exceed 8 weeks. Work with individuals with disabilities ages 14-22 to discover their interests for employment and prepare them for employment Job shadow Pre-ETS Instructors, Pre-ETS Supervisor, CES Manager, Career Advisor, Training Manager, Employee Support Program Manager, and Accessibility Specialist as they work with clients and employees. Assists with curriculum development and design of training materials Assists in preparing content for classes and other events Network with local businesses to create and develop work-based learning activities and work-based learning experiences Conduct workplace readiness and self-advocacy trainings. Assist with jobs tours and informational interviews. Assist clients with job search activities such as resume building, interviewing skills, completing and submitting job applications. Provide on-the-job supports, training and coaching to students at their paid internship sites. Attend CES, Pre-ETS, Workforce Development team meetings. Maintain a professional and positive attitude. Attend intern team meetings and trainings. Work on a collaborative intern cohort team project. Requirements

  • Preferably in the process of obtaining a BA/BS in Education, Human Services, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to proficiently use technology, exercise time management, and be self-directed.
  • Must be able to pass Washington State DSHS background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous classroom instruction experience is preferred.
  • A valid state driver’s license is preferred with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
