About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Summer Academic Advisor for the Rutgers-New Brunswick Office of the Provost for the Summer 2026 Academic Planning and Advising ( APA ) season. All summer advisors will work alongside, and under the guidance of, the school-based Assistant Deans and advising staff as they guide incoming first-year students through the process of registering for their Fall 2026 courses.

• Knowledge of Rutgers degree requirements and University systems (Degree Navigator, Schedule of Classes, Canvas).
• Comfort with web-based meeting platforms, as well as Google and Microsoft Suites.

Responsibilities

• Supports in-person group advising sessions 2-4 times per week between mid-June and the end of August, during concurrent sessions of New Student Orientation ( NSO ).
• Supports group virtual academic advising and registration initiatives for students unable to travel to campus for NSO , International Student Orientation.
• Schedules adjustment virtual drop-ins and handles administrative work.
• Helps students create balanced and appropriate full-time schedules for their first semester at Rutgers-New Brunswick to help students meet degree requirements, complete foundational courses in programs of interest, and explore their academic interests.
