Bristol Myers Squibb is looking for passionate upper-level undergraduate students or graduate students for summer internship opportunities in the Research Engineering (RE) group. The RE group focuses on enabling and accelerating research analytics for patient benefit through innovative computational data processing and integration platforms. The internship will involve applying generative AI and large language models (LLMs) to translational research use cases, providing a unique opportunity to learn about the drug development process and network with professionals across various disciplines.

  • Apply generative AI, LLMs, and agentic frameworks to solve practical problems in translational research and drug development.
  • Build intelligent tools and systems that enhance data accessibility and streamline exploratory analysis.
  • Facilitate integration and quality across core R&D datasets.
  • Tailor project assignments to align with the intern's background and interests.
  • Rising Junior and above undergraduate or M.S. or Ph.D. graduate student in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Fluency with Linux-based high-performance computing environments, including Python, Linux shell scripting, R, ssh, and git.
  • Strong programming background in Python.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying generative AI and LLM technologies.
  • Familiarity with AI agent frameworks and MCP servers.
  • Web development experience and experience with AWS technologies such as EC2, Beanstalk, S3, and Bedrock.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups across the organization.
  • Experience in the development of AI-powered chatbots.
  • Experience with AI agent frameworks like LangGraph, CrewAI, AgentCore, AWS Bedrock Agents.
