About The Position

PSEG is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern for the Engineering Department in Projects and Construction. This job involves working as an engineer in the Projects and Construction team, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through previous coursework, experience, and on the job training. This position will be Hybrid Fixed. Primary reporting location will be South Plainfield, but additional reporting locations may vary depending on work group assignment. Locations may include Somerset, Lawrenceville, Secaucus, Moorestown, Clifton, Newark or anywhere in our service territory.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029.
• Completed sophomore level coursework for consideration.
• A valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.

Nice To Haves

• 3.0 GPA
• Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as AutoCAD.
• Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry (interest or concentration in Power Systems).
• Demonstrate initiative, strong planning, organization, and team building skills.
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing electrical and civil calculations and drawings, procuring engineering services and materials, while communicating between project and design teams.
• Assist in preparing Key Plan Drawings, substation, and control house layout drawings.
• Assist in creating and maintaining engineering controls drawings (Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, etc).
• Assist in preparing scopes of work to solicit bids from contractors, oversee bid awards and construction.
• Possible work includes substation equipment assembly and installation, steel erection, requesting equipment outages for safety, etc.
