About The Position

The Summer 2026 Operations Process Improvement Intern at Friendly's will provide support to the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team by actively contributing to the advancement of the Safety Management System (SMS). The intern will collaborate with SMS element champions to drive continuous improvement across all safety elements. Responsibilities include identifying ergonomic risks and implementing solutions to minimize physical strain, leading initiatives to minimize waste in the production process, supporting the integration of new R&D formulations into manufacturing, applying the 5S methodology to organize workspaces, and conducting method studies to identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

• Must be a junior or senior in the fall of 2026.
• Degree focus in Industrial Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team by contributing to the advancement of the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Collaborate with SMS element champions to drive continuous improvement across all safety elements.
• Identify ergonomic risks and implement solutions to minimize physical strain.
• Lead initiatives to minimize waste in the production process through data analysis and Lean Manufacturing tools.
• Work with a cross-functional team to drive waste down through process improvements.
• Support the integration of new and revised R&D formulations into the manufacturing process.
• Enhance the timeliness and accuracy of work instructions for manufactured products.
• Apply the 5S methodology to organize workspaces and streamline processes.
• Conduct method studies on existing job processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support training processes.

Benefits
