Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Understanding or working knowledge of Pro-E and/or AutoCAD experience.
  • Microsoft Office experience (including Excel).
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work FULL-TIME during the Summer - 40 Hour Week.

  • Completion of Sophomore year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other engineers to fulfill special design requests on products.
  • Create definitions of parts and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats.
  • Create Pro-E models, drawings, and templates as well as make changes to BOMs.
  • Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
  • Provide new product development support in the Industrial, Commercial, Residential and/or Retail generator or Power Tool product area.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
  • Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
  • Interface with internal company personnel.
  • Provide technical support for assigned projects.
  • Specify precise new product functional requirements; design, test and integrate standard, less complex components.
  • Evaluate the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
  • Design, develop, execute and evaluate fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans.
  • Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists.
  • Utilize CAD or CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
  • Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
