About The Position

CLS offers a rich and exciting summer internship experience for 15-20 law students who have completed their first or second year of law school. Our law students receive exceptional training and the opportunity to work with some of the most talented legal minds in civil legal services. All CLS interns will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, engage with the communities we serve, and contribute to systemic advocacy efforts to advance economic and racial equity.

Requirements

• Must be a law student who has completed their first or second year of law school
• Submit a resume
• Provide a cover letter addressing interest and experience in public interest and poverty law/racial justice advocacy
• Include a law school transcript
• List three references, including at least one academic and one professional reference

Nice To Haves

• Experience or interest in public interest law
• Background in racial justice advocacy
• Interest in working in the Housing Unit, especially for 2L students from Philadelphia-area law schools

Responsibilities

• Work directly with clients
• Engage with the communities served by CLS
• Contribute to systemic advocacy efforts to advance economic and racial equity
• Participate in a 10-week internship program
