About The Position

QTS' summer internship program will provide you first hand experience into the fast paced world of the data center industry by providing weekly lunch and learns, a comprehensive orientation program, and site based activities, socials and volunteering events. Every intern will be assigned initiatives tied to real QTS objectives helping with anything pertaining to the whole life-cycle of a data center build and/or company operations. The Software Development and DevOps Intern role will vary depending upon the core area of the business that the intern will support. Those responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Technology Intern: Assist with developing and maintaining small features or enhancements in Java and Python under the guidance of senior engineers Write, review, and update basic code components, scripts, or utilities following established coding standards and best practices Support DevOps activities such as updating CI/CD pipelines, monitoring build results, and troubleshooting basic deployment issues Use GitHub for version control, including creating branches, committing changes, opening pull requests, and responding to code review feedback Help maintain technical documentation, including setup guides, code comments, and basic architecture or workflow notes Collaborate with team members in sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives to gain exposure to Agile development practices

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, STEM, Data Science, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS’s partner institutions (listed below) or a Blackstone Launchpad affiliate school: Auburn University Kansas State University Georgia State University Southern Adventist University Texas A&M University University of Kansas
  • Previous internship experience helping automate tasks for data center operations
  • Experience using Power Automate
  • Previous exposure to Smart Sheets
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, etc
  • Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).
